Dear West Clermont Families and Staff:
We have been working hard to make sure that all of our West Clermont students can attend school either physically in a school building or online in the West Clermont Online Academy. We've also encouraged families to plan for what would happen if we ever needed to temporarily close a school building and transition students and staff to some form of remote learning for a period of time.
As of this afternoon, we have a significant number of both students and staff members at our school that are either quarantined due to potential exposure to COVID-19 or are self-isolating because they or someone in their household has exhibited symptoms of COVID-19. Simply put, because of illness and limited substitute staff availability, there is strain on our ability to offer in-person learning at Merwin Elementary, Holly Hill Elementary, Summerside Elementary, West Clermont Middle School, and West Clermont High School.
Therefore, effective immediately, all students at Merwin Elementary, Holly Hill Elementary, Summerside Elementary, West Clermont Middle School, and West Clermont High School will transition to the Remote Learning 2.0 Plan.
Beginning tomorrow, Thursday, November 19, all students at Merwin Elementary, Holly Hill Elementary, Summerside Elementary, West Clermont Middle School, and West Clermont High School will engage in learning online through Schoology and will not report to the school building until after Thanksgiving break on Monday, November 30.
You will receive specific information from your building principal and/or classroom teachers regarding where and when students will access their instruction and learning materials. If you or your child need assistance with signing into Schoology, please visit the technology section of our WolfPack Hub for instructions.
During this period of remote learning, if you should need support for your district-issued Chromebook, please fill out the Remote Learning 2.0 Helpdesk Form or call 513.943.5077. If you have to leave a message, please include your name, your students name, contact information where you can be reached and a brief description of the problem, and a technician will return your call.
We will send a separate communication later this week concerning the procedures for families to pick up meals for next week.
We recognize that this sudden pivot creates additional stress on families and we are committed to returning to school as quickly as possible when we have the proper amount of staff support for our students. The health and safety of our students, families, and staff is our top priority.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your school's office or your child’s homeroom teacher.
We are wishing you well and can't wait to see our students again in person on Monday, November 30th! In the meantime, let’s continue to follow our WC Stop the Spread Health and Safety Protocols both inside our schools and in our lives. We must maintain these practices if we want teaching and learning to continue in our buildings. We can do it together!
